Finally changed Jack’s water and honestly, his water clarity is a lot worse now than it was haha it’s cause everything got stirred up though and cause it was warm/hot water. It will settle down though. A lot had evaporated though so I ended up taking a lot out but still not quite all of it. But now it’s filled all the way up to the black rim near the top. So he has a little more room to swim and seems happy. His food also fell into the tank last week and I haven’t wanted to touch it yet (I got it out with the net) so I’ve been feeding him this other food (I got 3 types of pellets and 1 flakes when I got him) and honestly, I think I like it better. It’s in this cardboard and and plastic sheet and you slide the lid over this little dip and slide it back and there’s automatically about 5-6 pellets in there and you just tip it over above his tank. But the reason I like it better is because it floats rather than sinking so it won’t cloud up his water as much and he eats it. He ate the other stuff too and was diving for it, which he didn’t do at first, but sometimes pieces would get caught in the rocks so he’d lose it before he found it. And this stuff he just heads right towards it and gulps it down so I can be sure he’s eating and be sure it won’t cloud up his water. The food says twice a day but I know better and 5 is a lot, especially twice a day, so he’ll only be getting fed once a day. My dad and I also figured out that the stink is in the rocks (I had asked about his stuff being stirred up) but he says that he thinks as long as I actually do the weekly water changes (which I’ve been supposed to be doing anyways) that he should be fine until September or August when it’s time to do the full water change. And I think he will too. He probably didn’t even need this water change, tbh, seeing as his WQ was fine and it’s the stuff in the rocks that’s causing the issues rather than the actual water, but at least he has more room to swim now. Honestly, he’s perfectly bright and hardy/happy though. His fins were looking a little different so he probably did need the change to feel his best but he’s not sick or anything. But yeah. I didn’t change it because I wasn’t sure how plus I’ve been more depressed lately off and on (I know, I shouldn’t have a pet if I can’t or don’t want to take care of it) but I told my dad yesterday or the other night that I need to change it and he put it on the to do list for today and gave me a brilliant suggestion - a coffee can and a 5 gallon bucket, so I finally changed it. So yeah. And I’m going to set an alarm on my phone every week to do it. I put him in on a Wednesday so it was originally supposed to be every Wednesday but because I just did it and today’s Monday, it will now be every Monday, which really isn’t a big deal. I may even make myself do it before horseback riding so that I remember. But yeah. He’s coming all the way up to the top now and is so happy! I put the screen back over his tank so he can’t jump out, seeing as he’s now so close to the top. Lol the cat is outside so no worries there. But yeah, he’s happy as a clam. ALSO. I never said this but he’s so friendly and smart. Every time I go near his tank, and particularly if I have food, he comes rushing over. He probably just thinks I’m gonna feed him but still. :P Betta’s are so personable and they’re pretty easy to take care of if you actually do it - I don’t get why everyone doesn’t have Betta’s. And honestly, I think they’re much easier, prettier, and smarter than goldfish, even though I love goldfish. But yeah. I love Jack and feel bad for slacking on his care so from now on, I’m taking the best care of him possible and yeah. I’d take a picture but I have no camera and fish move too fast, particularly Jack.
Sorry this was so long, I didn’t mean for it to be lol
